"Never leave that till tomorrow, which you can do today..."

In Nicole's words

Nicole had a natural ability to express herself through words.  Although she did not get to fully explore this talent, she put her feelings on paper in the poems below.  Her unique insight on life, relationships, priorities and her own uninhibited self perception will touch you deeply.

Simple Word

Innocent lives to be lost

Love destroyed in only minutes

Fear entering everyone's lives

Children hearing the unimaginable

Having to bury the one you raised

Growing up without your daddy

The one you married no longer by your side

Sadness fills the bright blue skies

Young men having to give up their lives

Tears are brought to a different person each day

Poverty rises as the economy falls

Not knowing what will happen next

Will civilians lives be taken too?

Peace is gone

Hatred here to stay

Is it necessary?

Hard questions to be answered

Can't there be a way around it?

Yet sometimes there is no choice

For is it better to let evil rule a country

Or endanger yours?

So many questions to be answered

So many terrible possibilities

All form one simple word

WAR!

Song of Myself

Blank

I sit and I think

What is inside?

Thoughts go round and round

Nothing really to write down

What do I write about myself?

I don't think I know who I am

No one can tell what's behind

My smile, my tears, my fears

Don't want to write what someone might read

Not brave or courageous

Ready to wear my heart on my sleeve

Red, blue, yellow, green so many colors

So many emotions

Boring

The same all the time

Keep people interested in my rhyme

Tell a joke, sing a song, make someone laugh

Fireworks go off

Sends you skipping on the right path

Don't gossip, tell lies

Don't speak of the half truths

People are listening

Watching your every move

Don't worry about the whispers

Stand tall, stand proud

Never let then bring you down

Chips A’hoy

I have not come to strength

Falling falling smooth hell

Crunch Crunch Crunch

Blue Satan's touch, Satan's dance, hot air balloon in the sky

Desire

Gulp Gulp Ahhh

Refreshing

I have not come to will power

Teeth wide white

HaHa

Clowns laugh, clowns play

Play ring a ding ding

Children sitting on the swing

Sucked into the black hole

Desire

Crunch Crunch Gulp Ahhh

No strength, no hope

Land of the Free

In the land of the free

What do we see

People being laid off and losing money to corporate greed

While athletes and stars are off on another shopping spree

They say they want all the racism to stop

Yet the KKK is walking down the city block

Women are equal nothing should make them feel low

In every Eminem song he describes women as hoes

Abstinence is the answer to stay healthy and shine

Sex in the City is on at nine

Violence is wrong try not to have a lot of foes

Families sit together to see the Sopranos

What is right, is definitely not clear

It's the Super Bowl you have to drink beer

Before we say Americas so great

Maybe we should get some priorities straight

Look into my eyes

Look in me
Tell me what you recognize

That ordinary girl
With my brown eyes
And little brown curls

Flying high above the air
Looking down with that blank stare

I listen to the stories
The stories of the depressed
The stories you tell of the people that are suppressed

But I think to myself why not me.
Why didn't my parents get divorce?
So I can write a college application with force

I want to be discriminated, made less
Feel a moment of weakness,
so I can keep you people content,
so I become somewhat of interest

Don't get me wrong my life is far from perfect
But to you my problems seem of insignificance
How come you can put me down?
You use reverse discrimination subconsciously
It's not fair, not fair to people like me

I want to share my life
Share my life with the rest of the world
Share my kindness, share the joy,
share the pain that to you seems small

I don't judge you, so don't judge me
Let's talk,
Give me a call
